Samenvatting
Abstract Monitoring of the herpetofauna from Matese Regional Park was performed from April to October 2000. Six species of amphibians (Salamandrina terdigitata, Triturus carnifex, Triturus italicus, Bufo bufo, Rana italica, Rana synklepton esculenta) and nine of reptiles (Podarcis sicula, Podarcis muralis, Lacerta bilineata, Chalcides chalcides, Anguis fragilis, Coluber viridiflavus, Elaphe quatuolineata, Natrix natrix, Vipera aspis) were found. The most frequent species were B. bufo, R. italica, R. synklepton esculenta among the amphibian and P. sicula, P. muralis, L. bilineata among the reptiles. Further field researches need to verify the presence of species (e.g. Salamandra salamandra and Elaphe lineata (=Elaphe longissima)) found in the neighbouring areas to the Matese Regional Park. However, our results evidence the great interest of the studied area as far as herpetofauna conservation concerns.
